After weighing in at Boots yesterday as my scales are currently broken, I was quite shocked to see a gain, even considering some aspects e.g. having a few drinks the night before and the time in my cycle (sorry) I definitely didn't expect to see a gain. Due to this, as soon as I got home I dropped my bags, ran into the bathroom and got out the measuring tape - 1 inch loss from my waist and thigh, 1/2 inch lost from my hips and arms.. something doesn't add up. Either I've gained muscle due to working out more and doing some weights (admittedly not many!) or the start weight I was working from, taken at the doctors, was incorrect. I have to assume it's the first as I can't imagine the doctor's scales being wrong but I still can't quite make sense of it.
As I mentioned in my last post I'm finding it hard not to snack - especially in the evenings, so today I stocked up on flavoured teas (thank you to The Re-up) and baked some chocolate orange brownies that I'd seen the recipe for in a Weight Watchers magazine, at only 179 calories each I couldn't resist! They turned out quite cake-y but still heavy like a brownie so I think it was best served with creme fraiche or something similar. I've tried getting in healthy snacks, like several small packs of mixed fruit and nuts but I'm not a great fan of nuts (no sniggering please!) so found them difficult to stick to and ended up raiding the cupboards for anything else but this seems like a great alternative as it feels so guilty to eat after dinner or with a cup of tea that I can't see myself wanting/needing to snack on anything else, fingers crossed. If anyone is interested just let me know and I'll post the recipe :)
I've also got a beef stew in the oven as I type that I'm going to have for my lunches, either in a wrap, with rice or on its own, which I can't wait to try as chicken and salad was getting quite boring! Despite my gain on the scales, I have had one triumph this week - fitting into a size 14 pair of jeans (!!!) that may not sound like much but it's a massive deal to me as I've not owned and worn a pair of jeans for literally years as I could never fit into any properly, even in the larger sizes.
So, all things considered, it's actually been quite a good week for me and I'm hoping all my efforts will eventually show on the scales but I'm just as happy seeing a decrease in my measurements. I hope everyone else has had a good week and made the most of the weekend :)
Your doing well! A size of 14 jeans is next on my goal list, so I know how fab it must feel!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much and good luck! :)
DeleteCongrats on fitting into those jeans! Sometimes the numbers on the scales don't add up - it could even have to do with what you ate or a number of other factors. Measurements, however, don't lie! Good job on your loss :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah, there's so much that can affect it so I'm trying not to let it get to me as I'm feeling really good and that's always got to be a good thing!
DeleteCongratulations on fitting into your jeans! I love that feeling myself. AS for scales maybe you should consider weighing in on boots scales from now on. That way you know your using same scales each week? Might be worth considering. Good luck for this week. S xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah that's what I was thinking as it's only 50p, a lot less than I'd expected so I'm going to stick with those for now :)
DeleteI am drooling over that picture of the chocolate orange brownies! Is it possible for you to send me the recipe?
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely! That's fine, I'll do it tonight :)
