Ticker explanation

I've recently added a weight loss ticker to my blog and just thought I should explain it a little -

If you ever look for advice on weight loss online one of the tips that regularly shows up is to set an end goal, now, if you've read any of my first posts you will know that when I started my goal was to simply fit into a size 12 pair of jeans and although that's a goal in itself, it seemed as though I needed to have a more specific weight related goal.

At the moment the goal I've set is 11 stone (70kg) which would put me at almost a 4 stone loss (25kg) which puts me 7lbs (3 and a half kg) inside my healthy BMI weight. However, this may change with time as once I get to 11 stone I may feel that I'd be more comfortable if I weighed less or more, but I'll just see how I feel at that point.

My Mum said to me that she thought 10 stone (63 kg) would be about right for me but I think the main thing is I've not been that weight since I was very young (11/12 maybe?) so can't envision myself that size at all. I don't know if that should be worrying to me as it may mean that there's a mental block to my weight loss but the fact remains that I've only just reached inside the 12 stone mark (81.9kg) so I think that setting a goal which is a little closer will help to keep me motivated but won't mean that I instantly stop when I eventually reach the goal that I've created.

Regardless, the ticker helps me to see how far I've come and how close I am to goal so ultimately I think it's a help rather than a hindrance! Does this help anyone else? Do you worry that there may be mental blocks to your weight loss?

  1. Just keep working towards your goal. Once you hit your goal weight, you can reevaluate and see how far you'd like to keep going. I've got 2 numbers in mind for myself as well. One is my goal weight and the other is the lightest I think I'd want to weigh -- but I'll reevaluate once I get to the first one :)

    1. I think that's the best thing for me to do, I'd like to have a lightest number as well but I'm really not sure as I can't picture it! I'll just have to wait and see :)
